    Community Vision
Muskoka, Ontario, midway between urban southern Ontario and the great open north, situated on the ancient Canadian shield, amidst thriving boreal forests and pristine lakes and rivers, is, by its very nature, inspirational. The landscape provides the perfect setting for creativity and self-reflection. The thriving communities that populate Muskoka are rich with artists, artisans and arts organizations. The Arts in Muskoka, spelled with a capital A, is without question, a thriving industry.
Equally arguable is the fact that the Arts community in Muskoka receives an enormous support for its creativity through patrons and fans. This is a community that loves its Arts. Songwriting and the great tradition of the troubadour is not lost in Canada. Indeed, Canadian songwriters have set the standard around the world, to which end Muskoka has contributed her fair share.
First Tuesdays: Song Night in Muskoka seeks to offer another much needed opportunity for music creators and music fans to meet at a grassroots level. Muskoka Song Nights will attract great Canadian, established and emerging songwriters to our supportive community of live music fans, Performance opportunities and workshops will nurture local talent. First Tuesdays will provide a relaxed and welcoming space, wherein the experience for everyone is consistently fun and inspiring,
Muskoka audiences have come to expect a standard of excellence over the years, through the hard work and contributions of festivals and performing arts organizations that have flourished in Muskoka. Muskoka Song Night will seek to match this standard of excellence when once a month we bring artists and fans together for an up close and personal live music experience. Songwriters will share their original songs and the stories behind the writing of the songs, their stories behind the scenes of touring, performing and recording. Audiences will be assured performances will be excellent and entertaining. Artists will be assured a supportive and enthusiastic audience. The local community of songwriters will find an ongoing facility for their professional development and be inspired to work for the opportunity to perform their own original songs.
We are offering to create a series of songwriting nights in downtown Huntsville, at the famous Hideaway Pub. The venue is located in the lower level of the famed ‘Empire Hotel’ , the lobby of which is purported to be the inspirational background for that great Joni Mitchell song “Raised on Robbery.” The size and situation of the Hideaway Pub makes this the perfect location to host the Muskoka Song Night series. The atmosphere is congenial and relaxed, the performance space is intimate and easily geared to enhance sound and lighting and provide the best conditions for both artists and audience.
It is our hope the community will support this initiative in such a way, Muskoka Song Night will become an ongoing and essential music event in the Muskoka cultural landscape.
